When my daughter was born I join the rare group of <25 year old dads. I joke to that parenthood isn’t that great, but I’ve got a head start on becoming a grandparent. Because, as young as I was, what was more amazing were the 44 and 55 year old ladies that became grandmas.
If I had waited until I felt more ‘prepared’ or established, at say, 33, then my mother would have to wait until age 65 to become a grandparent and experience true joy. My grandma, one of the biggest influences in my life, wouldn’t have met my daughter.
I have no idea when I get to join the G club, but I think my point here is that we rarely have aspirations of grandparenthood. What would change if we did?
I can’t wait to meet my grandkids.
