One of my favourite parts of House of Cards Season 3 (no spoilers) was the scenes where the Tibetan Monks were constructing a sand mandala inside the White House. It was gorgeous. Once complete, they then ritualistically dismantled their creation to show the transitory nature of material life.
How often do we believe we’re building something permanent or, worse, fear that what we’re building will crumble? Of course it will! Every material thing crumbles.
If what you’re trying to build is a business, a steady income, a lifestyle, the fear of it all crumbling down will always lurk in the shadows, no matter how successful things have been.
Should we then practice ritual destruction in our lives?
