Playing board games with kids is great! Just not with the ones that are popular (Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders, Sorry!). So what do you do?
My path of discovery has been going with my daughter to the Board Game Cafe and trying three to four games in a night.
Favourite games this month:
I've learned that my six year-old can adapt to new rules within minutes (I misread a part of Sleeping Queens), think probabilisticly (F&F makes you guess the size of the subsequent card relative to the one visible), and outright beat me at Checkers.
It's so engaging. Later I hope to jot down other Dad lessons learned. In the meantime, here's this wise man:
