When you’re an agent (or agency), you’re job is to serve your client. No matter how you structure the arrangement, it will always be an unequal partnership.
It won’t be a marriage, but instead master-servant relationship. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this, but given that it’s true what can be done to make for a positive ‘unequal’ relationship? Here are some thoughts:
The servant must be fiercely loyal.
The good master must give more than is asked.
The good master creates future opportunities.
The servant manages the present wisely.
Both must protect each other from threats.
The servant must give credit to the master.
A great agent attracts great clients and a great client attracts great agents. It’s important to know in any business situation what role you play. And, perhaps more importantly, if you want to be the best servant or master.
