Pausing Blogging

2/5/2016

I love the experience of journaling and reflecting, and of teaching and sharing (and radical transparency). And for those reasons, this blog has been perfect and amazing. However, I feel like I've done enough of it for awhile.

I'm going to be spending some time thinking how best to share and teach and network this year and onward. So, for now calling off the daily blog challenge.

Let me know if you'd like to here more from me on any topic and maybe I'll write a post, addressed only to you!

Rich and Famous are Relative Terms

Who is rich? Those who have more resources than the other people who have less.

Who is famous? Those who are more well known than the other people who know them.

If you have a million dollars, there is countless people more wealthy.

If people Google you, there are countless many more famous.

Shift perspectives and you too can be rich and famous.

Are you afraid of money?

Are you afraid of money?

It's just numbers. The power it has is what you give it.

The digits in your bank account (or loan) are numbers, nothing real.

It's no great skill to move money around, or generate money better than others, but our society gives people with this ability as the titans of our time.

I think financial success has a lot to do with how much a person is afraid of money and that fear runs deep. Our parents give us our fear, our teachers reinforce it. Our late teens lead most of us to the debt burdens of student loans that begin a saga of debt and income.

Time is real. Money is not.

January Review: Blog, Business, Ben

This is the seventh of a series where each month I'll dedicate a post to looking in the mirror in three arenas - blog posts, business highlights, and personal highlights.

BLOG
Twice as many blog posts were viewed as were written again, but traffic is down.

My personal interest in blogging regularly is fading, as is my audience's (perhaps the two are related...). This is when it becomes more of a personal challenge to continue to do so regularly. I'm starting to think, as I approach a year, what to do in the future, whether to move to weekly or abandon for a time.

BUSINESS
Frontier made some tough decisions this month, but also so great opportunity. We're in discussion with an Edmonton-based charity and Toronto-based charity and thus, with our self-imposed limit of 12 clients, gave one of our clients notice.

I visited our Calgary client and celebrated a great year of partnership.

BEN
Ol Benny boy is enjoying reconnecting with family. Kids and I enjoyed time in Courtney with my mum and step dad and later in the month I visited with my uncle for a night and connected with another uncle for the first time in awhile with a phone call.

Mondays are now personal days, leaving Tuesday-Thursday for work and Friday-Sunday for family time. It makes quite the rhythm.

People are better at persuading themselves than you

Are you trying to persuade a colleague, client, friend or spouse?

Consider this - people are better at persuading themselves than you are.

Change your game plan, try to listen more and ask informed questions. You might find that your friend is more likely to be persuaded by their own voice than yours.
