This week, Lebron James, one of the greatest athletes of our time, signed a LIFETIME deal with Nike.
It's not clear how much yet, but it's expected to be close to a billion and way over $300 million.
There's something really odd about a culture that allows for lifetime sponsorships. We know of course that if Lebron does anything publicly shameful he'll lose the deal (Tiger, you idiot). But, what precedent will this set? Lebron is 30, but could you make this deal at 18 if the offer came up? What other brands could celebrities sell themselves to for life?
